Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU)
PSFU is Uganda's apex body for the private sector. It is made up of 105 business associations, corporate bodies and the major public sector agencies that support private sector growth.
Today, the Association is one of the largest organizations representing the broad industrial and commercial sectors of Uganda 's economy and an important forum for the private sector in the country. UMA has a membership comprising of close to 750 small, medium and large enterprises drawn from both the private and public sector.
Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI)
Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) is the umbrella organisation of the business private sector in Uganda.
It was incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act-CAP 85 as a company limited by guarantee without share capital.
Its role was recognized in August 22,1997 when the Parliament of Uganda legitimised and reinforced its operations under the Parliament Act. No.7.
Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) is Uganda's premier apex business organization with country wide out reach.
Forum for African Women Educationalist (FAWE)
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is a pan African Non Government Organization founded in 1992 to promote girls' and women's education in sub Saharan Africa in line with Education For All. With Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, FAWE has a network of National Chapters in 32 countries.
Strategic Objectives:
- Influencing policy formulation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in favour of increasing access, improving retention and enhancing performance of girls.
- Building public awareness and consensus on the social and economic advantages of girls' education through advocacy.
- Demonstrating, through interventions on the ground, how to achieve increased access, improved retention and better performance of girls.
- Influencing replication and mainstreaming of best practices from the demonstrative interventions into broader national education policy and practice.
Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE)
Over the years, the society expanded in membership and hence, in scope. It gained its current name in 1961 when it merged with the Federation of Industry and was renamed Federation of Uganda Employers. Its title changed again when it incorporated the Uganda Chamber of Commerce to become the Federation of Uganda, Commerce and Industry. It lost this appendage in 1980 when the Chamber of Commerce was re-established.
The Federation, or FUE as it is more commonly known, gained recognition by government as the sole organization representing employer views. As a result, it is a member to a number of government boards and committees.
These are:
- The Labour Consultative Council
- Special Security Advisory Council
- Minimum wage Advisory Board and
- Uganda Industrial Court.
Canadian and African Business Women's Alliance (CAABWA)
CAABWA is a non-profit, Canadian and African membership based Association with the mandate to support African Women Entrepreneurs in their efforts to participate in international trade. The organization was founded by Canadian and African women who participated in the African Direct Business event held in Toronto in May of 2000.
Objectives
- To improve economic sustainability and growth in Africa.
- To encourage gender equality and empower women.
- To advance private sector development.
