About GEP PDF print email

The Girl Entrepreneurship Program targets young women in secondary school to university level and tertiary institutions to promote entrepreneurship as more that a technical skill, but a life-determining attitude. The program is based on a sequence of visits to deliver a 3 part module. The module includes interactive exercises, a presentation by a mentor also referred to as a role model, and finally facilitated discussions and debates. The intention of the UNV- sponsored program is to support each participant’s personal development in the areas of self-awareness, communication and technical skills to build the overall confidence among young women facing Uganda’s political/economic climate.

By the end of the program, young women should be able to:

  • ·         Express their thoughts and ideas in a group or public setting with confidence
  • ·         Discuss points of debate analytically
  • ·         Identify the benefits of a team –based work ethic
  • ·         Recognize the benefits of personal and economic independence
  • ·         Make informed decisions about business and career planning
