| Month of the Women Entrepreneur (MOWE) | | | | Tuesday, 01 November 2011, 08:00 To Wednesday, 30 November 2011 | | Hits : 394 | | | The International Labor Organization, (ILO) through its Project on Women Entrepreneurship Development and Gender Equality (WEDGE), in collaboration with Women Entrepreneurs Associations in Uganda, formed a partnership designed to widely promote the role of Women's Entrepreneurship Development (WED) in national development. Under the theme “Strengthening Entrepreneurship Skills and governance of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations”, the Women Entrepreneur Associations in Uganda dedicated the month of November, as the “Month of the Woman Entrepreneur (MOWE)”. The MOWE celebrations are conducted throughout the month of November.
During MOWE, a combination of different events ranging from enterprise skills training in gender sensitive business development services, capacity building and training workshops on governance of Women Entrepreneurs Associations, small business exhibitions by women entrepreneurs and an advocacy forum on economically generated gender based violence are planned. These events are aimed at creating awareness of the need for an enabling business environment for women entrepreneurs, promoting the role of women's entrepreneurship development in national development, recognizing the potential and achievements of women entrepreneurs in generating employment and incomes, and showcasing women entrepreneur role models via a series of national events such as media campaigns, celebrations, workshops and promotional activities.
